artist statement:
This image, along with the whole series 'North' means a lot to me. I took them all when I went back to England. I think I'd forgotten how beautiful it is there. The whole time I was photographing, I kept finding beauty in places I didn't expect. This one was taken at the top of a flight of stairs that I had seen so many times before, but it suddenly looked like it had a secret. Apparently the walls have been redone and painted, and the curtain is gone now, so I'm glad I got this photograph when I did.
